THE STORY OF COSMEL COSMETICS
Everything starts with an idea. Or better, everything starts from a spark, from a desire that sparks during the time you set aside for the “thing” you dedicate yourself to. In this case, the “thing” is chemistry, organic chemistry. And the desire was to create our own natural organic dermocosmetics. It sounds so ordinary today, “everyone” works naturally and organically. But in 1990, the story was a little different. That was the era of industrialization, the import of big brands from all over the world, and, unfortunately, no care was taken for ecology and essential values, which are talked about a lot today. And it’s talked about for a reason.
Let’s start from the beginning. Melita is responsible for Cosmel – cosmetics “Cos” + Melita “mel”.
In 1974, Melita graduated from the Faculty of Technology, chemical and technological department (organic major), where she gained knowledge and discovered her interests and affinities. Already during his studies, the desire to work in the production and development of new technologies awoke. And natural organic cosmetics have always interested and fascinated her. You know how it goes, from a good chemistry teacher who knows how to convey passion and love for her profession. And that profession, i.e. expertise and quality, are the most important foundation of Cosmel cosmetics.
After graduating from college, she gained experience in managing production in Pliva, Neva and Pčelarska Centrala. The work was interesting, Melita had a great career. She was a successful production manager in leading domestic industries and with experience working abroad (L’Oreal Paris). But that’s when the idea of Cosmel was born, it sparked and Melita dared to leave her good and secure job and start her own adventure.
In 1990, the wish came true. With the support of her husband, a small family brand was created. From that moment until today, Melita creates its own innovative natural products. For more than 30 years, Cosmel has not deviated from its path and from day one we have been creating top quality products that we believe in.
When you create a good base, when your intentions are sincere, when you do something with love, then it is a solid foundation and a safe harbor.

The goal of Cosmel is inspiration for a healthy lifestyle. The thesis that beauty comes from within is certainly valid. The importance of exercise and diet also affects the health of the skin. The skin is our largest organ, so it is logical that unhealthy food and inadequate care can be the cause of many chronic skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles, eczema, psoriasis. We would also like to emphasize that pimples are a normal occurrence and we must pay attention to any inflammatory condition of the skin and find the reason why our body reacted that way. We must not ignore and do not recommend doing aggressive treatments with products containing chemical ingredients that cause mechanical damage. This is why it is important to use organic ingredients in cosmetic products.
The skin itself tells us that something does not suit it, as well as our whole body (so listen to your body). At Cosmel, we take care to create a balance with carefully selected ingredients to preserve the skin’s natural protective layer. Likewise, it is important to properly incorporate these great organic ingredients into a complete product.
In all Cosmel’s products, we use exclusively cold-pressed organic oils and extracts rich in essential fatty acids, which are essential ingredients for healthy and balanced skin. Correct application and ingredients make the difference. And Melita is really great there.
In short, Cosmel cosmetics stimulates the formation of collagen and elastin, nourishes, protects and soothes the skin, gives it tone and softness. After all, the condition of the skin is a reflection of the general condition – physical and psychological.
But let’s get back to our story. Of course, during the period of 30 years there were obstacles and challenges; ups and downs; doubts and naivety. But never in the foundation – in the product. Cosmel gradually, really organically created a great base of wonderful loyal clients, some of whom have been loyal to us for over 20 years. It is a great honor and the greatest motivation for us to continue this small but big story for us.
And this is not only a story about Cosmel, but also a universal thesis that we must follow our dreams. And we at Cosmel really believe in that. We are a bit of a dreamer, but at the same time, hasn’t it been proven countless times that dreams do come true? In one way or another, maybe not the way we imagined, maybe not when we imagined, but if you sincerely go into something, it will come back at some point.
