Hey you! I love this greeting so much, it’s somehow so me, so personal and directed just to you who are reading. I am Martina, mom, doula, breastfeeding consultant and parent educator in training with an emphasis on conscious parenting (with Jasmine Hadela). I became a mother in my thirties and completely “fell” to the charm of that small world of pregnancy, as well as working with pregnant women, entire families and babies. In addition, I like to use essential oils in my daily life, so I hope, when I can, to enroll in an aromatherapy course in order to gain additional knowledge in this field with an emphasis on pregnancy and postpartum.
With my own pregnancy, my cruelty free blog became, what they call a baiting portal. My wish is to create a “small planet” for learning, education and information, not only about pregnancy, but also about everything that you were not told that awaits you, say maternity leave. I speak about these topics from the side of a mother who has gone through administration, a doula, and from the educational and informative side.
A planet where there is a small but essential solution for all great fears, that is my vision.
MARTINA JELKIĆ
On my profiles, I share with you the knowledge I have learned at trainings, and I have gone through training as a childbirth, postpartum doula, breastfeeding consultant and I am currently on an eight-month training course as a parent educator. You will also find valuable content through the podcast Nisi mi zala #nisimirekla with various guests and soon the portal. Currently, I have (and will have) guests in my podcast, such as midwives, psychotherapists, breastfeeding consultants, baby sleep, etc… On my profiles, you can find out the ways in which my knowledge can be of use to you. I went through my basic training within the Balkan birth workers organization, and I decided to improve my skills and continue further learning online, because at the moment, due to a small baby, it suits me better at home.
Behind everything is my small, but extremely difficult pregnancy marked by fear both for the baby, the birth, and for what torments all of us women without a contract for an indefinite period, which is work. As I went through these fears with my husband, but also alone, I wanted to help every mother who has the same fears. Because we women carry so much, especially in motherhood, and this burden needs to be shared and not carried alone. During my postpartum period, I had the help of my mother, from whom I learned about postpartum practices and customs that date back to my great-grandmother, who was the mother of 13 children, 8 of whom are alive today. So part of that knowledge now lives through my postpartum and me as a mother. I often hear useful things about breastfeeding from them, and everything starts with the sentence “old women are like this…”.
This is only a small part of what I will write about and I hope to cover each topic individually, thoroughly and extensively so that you have the information available at your fingertips.
In my little planet of maternity and pregnancy, you will find a safe place to curl up when the rest of the world is too loud, information, education, some funny situations, little tricks for everyday life and a great deal of understanding.
